Welcome to My World
Theatre found me at a time when everything in my life was in transition. I had just met my new parents after my mothers passing, and was moving into a new home. My first Christmas Eve with my new family, they took me to see my first musical, the Broadway National Tour of Wicked in Los Angeles, California. When the lights went up at intermission there were tears in my eyes and I looked at my parents and said, “People get to do that for a living?” I knew at that moment that I wanted to do musical theatre.
Then I met the love of my life… New York City. I have grown so much as a person and as an artist here. Theatre was initially an outlet for me. It was a way for me to channel all of the pain, fear, and loss I was feeling in my life but over time it’s changed into something that has really defined who I am. I don’t know who or where I would be without theatre. Theatre is my home and I know I was meant to tell stories and share the gifts that God gave me.
Now that I’ve been immersed in this world, I see where I fit in this industry. I want to be an example to other performers who don’t fit the typical “musical theatre” mold but have the talent to be the lead, the dancer, and the love interest. I want to show other women who look like me that a career in Musical Theatre is possible if you work hard enough and you love it with everything you have!
